The Policy Desk
The legal pages a Japanese shop needs before selling to America
Not part of any studio. Not included in The Commons.
Nobody buys from a shop they cannot hold to anything. Your refund window, your shipping times and your duty disclosure are read at exactly the moment an American decides whether to trust a stranger eight thousand miles away — and they are the same pages a payment processor reads during a dispute and a platform reads during review. This course writes all six of them, in both languages, in one afternoon.
The six pages you will publish
- Business Information — 特商法 satisfied by content, and titled so no American is frightened by it.
- Cancellations, returns and refunds — the window, the two rules, and who pays return postage.
- Shipping, customs and duties — handling and transit split apart, and the duty line that stops chargebacks.
- Privacy notice — an honest inventory, named third parties, retention, and the U.S. state rights paragraph.
- Terms of service — governing law written kindly, and the IP clause you will need for takedowns.
- Email consent and product claims — CAN-SPAM, opt-in records, 'handmade', CPSIA and character IP.
Who this is for
- You sell, or are about to sell, from Japan to buyers in the United States.
- Your policy pages are in Japanese only, are machine-translated, or do not exist.
- You have had a duty surprise, a return argument, or a platform review — or you would like to never have one.
Every lesson is written in Japanese and English. The English drafts are not translations — they are written the way an American shop writes them.
Where this sits
Export Studio covers the physical side of shipping and customs paperwork; Cost & Price covers duty and tax in your margins. Neither teaches you to write the pages. This course is only the pages — the wording, the numbers, and where each one goes on Etsy, Shopify and your own site.
The Policy Desk is a standalone course. It is not part of any studio, and it is not included in The Commons — members pay for it separately. One payment of ¥14,800, yours for good, including updates when U.S. rules or platform requirements change.

One honest limit
This is a working method written by a seller, not legal advice. It will get an ordinary stationery shop from nothing to complete and defensible. For high-value goods, children's products, subscriptions, or health and safety claims, have a qualified professional read your pages before publishing.
